Women Can Fight Diseases Well Compared To Men

So the mystery why women live longer compared to men is revealed. A research by Ghent University in Belgium has stated that women are genetically programmed in a better way to fight against diseases compared to men. And the answer lies in the extra X chomosome that women have.

The lead researcher, Dr Claude Libert said, "Statistics show that in humans, as with other mammals, females live longer than males and are more able to fight off shock episodes from sepsis, infection or trauma. We believe this is due to the Xchromosome, which in humans contains 10% of all microRNAs detected so far in the genetic code."

So this is good for women. But there is a down side too. According to Dr Eleanor Fish, a professor of immunobiology at the University of Toronto, if a woman has already been affected by any infection, then "it can result in a more severe inflammatory response. This means women are more likely to develop autoimmune diseases and they may suffer flu more badly than men."

So all women should take care they don't get any infection as far as possible.
